Donald Glover, the actor, writer, and musician behind the Childish Gambino persona, has announced that he is retiring the name. The announcement came during a surprise appearance at Tyler, the Creator's headlining set at Coachella. Glover has been using the Childish Gambino name since 2008, and has released three studio albums under the moniker. He has also starred in several films and television shows, including the Emmy Award-winning series "Atlanta."
New Projects on the Horizon
Along with the retirement announcement, Glover also revealed that he is working on two new projects. The first is a film titled "Bando Stone: The New World," which he will direct. The film will star Glover as an aging criminal who is trying to turn his life around. The second project is a television series called "Atlanta Robbin's," which will be a spin-off of Glover's hit series "Atlanta." The series will follow the character of Robbin, played by Brian Tyree Henry, as he navigates the criminal underworld of Atlanta.
